Program Outline:

Each participant:

  • Receives a Pre-Workshop Speech Evaluation consisting of a recorded speech sample, which is transcribed and evaluated.
  • Receives a Personal Speech Analysis: this reveals exactly how their pronunciation varies from standard American English and identifies specific areas for improvement.
  • Focuses on the sounds, which make the most difference to the listener’s ability to understand the participant’s speech.
  • Is taught appropriate speech modification techniques, as well as the basic sounds and principles of American English.
  • Learns to discriminate between different speech sounds, with special emphasis placed on: Pronunciation, Complete Word Production, and Voice Projection.
  • Is given the opportunity to practice these fundamentals in conversational speech, and by giving presentations.
  • Participates in a Post-Workshop Speech Evaluation. Speech is analyzed again. The results are then compared to the initial analysis so that the extent of improvement is determined.
  • Develops Strategies for Continued Growth: recommendations for continued improvement of speech pronunciation.

Training materials utilized are determined by the specific needs of each client, and are included with the program. These include but are not limited to:
